Doug E Mack

It’s been sometime now that singer/song writer Dougie Mack has been waiting in the wings; honing his craft, doing live performances studio recordings and releasing singles.

Now Dougie Mack has completed his debut album “The Voyage” from which he had issued three singles: “Go On and Fly”,  “Baby Please” and “Jealousy & Envy.” These songs are flying high and it appears that this album will be flying higher, as Dougie Mack takes his musical career to new heights with a collection of mostly solid original materials.

His tradition is rooted in the influence of the late great Jackie Mittoo, musician extraordinary whose contribution to reggae music is immeasurable. Dougie Mack said, “During my early days of orientation in Toronto I use to transport Jackie Mittoo’s Hammond 83 keyboards in my Doge Caravan truck which led to over five years association with him. I learned to play the keyboard under his guidance.” Douglas McLeary was born in Buff Bay, Portland Jamaica and grew up in a strict Baptist home where he was under tight control, however his exposure to jukebox sound system and radio made up for not being allowed to go to parties and dances.

At 12 his family moved to Toronto Canada where in high school he did music courses and played the trombone. “It wasn’t the instrument of my choice” said Dougie, “but I played it while I had to but after High School I took guitar lessons at the Italian-Canadian Music center.”

In 1990, Dougie recorded his first single, I’ll always love you.” He also worked with Bull-Wacky in New Jersey and Sugar Minott in Jamaica before migrating to South Florida.

Since residing in Florida, Dougie recorded with Mereoli label, Upstairs Music and KBM Records. Dougie’s solo album musical arrangements by Carl Peterson, will showcase him as a talented artist, as once again Dougie Mack launched a musical attack.
